Nakashima Tatami has been in business since 1897 and is now in its fourth generation. Throughout the Meiji, Taisho, Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa eras, we have continuously evolved, expanding our range of services to meet the changing needs of society.

In an aging society, we are always thinking about how we can contribute to our local community. By obtaining various qualifications and actively engaging in community initiatives, we strive to be a tatami store that people can trust. At Nakashima Tatami, we honor tradition while embracing innovation. One of our newest advancements is Art Tatami Print, a cutting-edge technology that allows for intricate, high-quality printing on tatami mats, washi paper, sliding doors, and shoji screens.

Using environmentally friendly, odorless latex ink, this technique ensures vibrant colors, smooth gradations, and excellent durability without the need for lamination. Because the ink is free from harmful substances and flammable solvents, it is safe for indoor use and ideal for both residential and commercial spaces.

With our large-format latex printer, we have transformed tatami into a creative canvas, making it possible to design unique spaces that blend tradition with modern aesthetics.
